Website Design

Website Design should always be aimed at sales creation. Like any other form of marketing a website must create a positive effect on the bottom line. To do this successfully the site needs to cater to the need of the potential customer. It needs to match the demographic of the customer base and ensure the product is displayed in a manner that is appropriate for the industry. This is the most critical aspect of the entire process. Poor Website Designers will only consider the requests of the site owner and create a site that may present the product well but could leave the customers feeling disconnected from the site. Good Website Designers will match the requirements of the client with their customer base so the product is well displayed and the customers can relate to the site and the underlying processes. In some cases the this will require some negotiation with the client and possibly some live testing to see how the clients respond. Good site analysis can throughout the process can ensure the final product is attractive and effective.
Website design also requires the judicial use of functionality and space. A trap designers often fall into is the over use of animation on sites. Websites based on flash animation are often good examples of this. When a site becomes very busy it will tend to distract the audience and can prevent them from absorbing the content of the site which is its primary focus. Whilst broadband internet is making image heavy sites more palatable it is important to consider the site user demographic. Additionally these elements given that some of animation can make a site more eye catching the use of movement should not be completely discounted. A judicious use of animation is important to enhance the site. The final consideration for Website Design is to ensure the site is future proofed to some extent so the client can effectively expand into the site. The use of Content Management Systems are excellent tools to cater to this need. By adding this functionality the site content will change regularly providing excellent search engine results and increasingly the likelihood of return visitors.
